Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 12, 1997 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Catholic Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Hilda Joyce

Hilda Viola Joyce, the daughter of Adam and Minnie (Sterkel) Pope, was born at Sutton, Nebraska, on July 1, 1909, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on April 10, 1997, at the age of 87 years, 9 months, and 9 days.

She grew up and attended school at Sutton, where she lived until her marriage.

On December 2, 1933, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Martin Joyce, at Harvard, Nebraska. They farmed in Clay County and the Giltner area, and in 1984, they retired and moved into their present home in Aurora. Martin preceded her in death on December 26, 1987.

Hilda was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora, and belonged to the Altar Society. She was also the Giltner correspondent for the Aurora News Register for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother Marvin Pope, and a grandson Brent Joyce.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her son Gary of Aurora; 4 daughters, Marilyn Adam of Ravenna, Bonita Wendt of Giltner, Rose Marie Warren of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Margaret Schneider of Aurora; one brother Raymond Pope and a sister Josephine Yost of Hastings; 17 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren.
