Lester Kalkwarf

Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Monday, August 3, 1992 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Lester Kalkwarf

Lester J. Kalkwarf, the son of Richard and Martha (Rotthaus) Kalkwarf, was born at Crete, Nebraska, on November 10, 1912, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on July 30, 1992, following a bout with cancer, at the age of 79 years, 8 months, and 20 days.

He attended Crete Public Schools, and he owned several businesses in the Crete area following his education.

On July 30, 1942, he was united in marriage to Bernice Wells at Wilbur, Nebraska. They had been married 50 years on the date of his death. The couple farmed north of Crete until 1950. From 1950 to 1955, he owned and operated Kalkwarf Ford Motor Company in Crete. In 1955, he owned Kalkwarf Construction and Land Leveling until the couple purchased their present farm north of Aurora in 1960. In addition to farming, Mr. Kalkwarf invented farm equipment accessories. He held patents on his inventions and marketed them under his company—LK Manufacturing.

Lester was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Floyd and Marvin; and one grandson Terry.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Bernice of Aurora; one son Ron of Aurora; 3 daughters, June Bartek of Aurora, Karen (Mrs. Charles) Farber of Grand Island, Marlene (Mrs. Darrell) Hinrichs of Giltner; one sister Ethel Wichman of Lincoln; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
