Keith Keasling

Keith Keasling, age 80, of Aurora, died Thursday, November 1, 2007, at Bryan/LGH West in Lincoln.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, November 5th at the Pleasant View Bible Church in Aurora. Rev. Rick Prettyman will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: KEITH KEASLING

Keith Francis Keasling, the son of Frank and Grace (Rath) Keasling, was born in Harvard, Nebraska on March 7, 1927 and died in Lincoln, Nebraska on November 1, 2007, at the age of 80.

Keith attended country school and then graduated from Harvard High School in 1945. He farmed with his father until he entered the service and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War for 13 months. After he was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, Keith returned home to farm west of Harvard.

Keith was married to Darlene Shonkwiler on January 23, 1954 at Sedgewick, Colorado. They farmed near Harvard and then Marquette, before moving to Aurora 40 years ago. Keith worked for Jim Fosket well drilling, Gus Thieszen doing irrigation work, Bonnavilla Homes and custodian for the Aurora School District. Keith was one of the first custodians to take care of the new gym. He retired when he was 56, due to his health.

Keith was a member of Pleasant View Bible Church. He enjoyed playing Scrabble and putting together puzzles. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and especially enjoyed the Christmas holidays. Keith loved his dog, Dakota, who was his faithful companion.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Clinton, Floyd, Donald and Dean Keasling, and two infant brothers.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Darlene Keasling of Aurora; four children, Charles (Nancy) Keasling, Cindy (Dave) Bradley, Carol (Greg) Hakinson all of Aurora and Carla (Mike) Hakinson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 10 grandchildren, Derek Keasling and fiancé Heather Campbell, Aaron Bradley, Jordan Bradley, Tayla, Zachary, Allie, Katelyn, Jace, Jamie and Madelyn Hakinson; brother, Kenneth (Helen) Keasling of Harvard and sister, Jeanene (John) Schopbach of Arizona.
