Funeral Services were held 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 15, 1990 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Center Ridge Cemetery near Red Oak, Iowa.

OBITUARY: Laura Kemling

Laura Ethel Kemling, the daughter of Edwin and Emma (Duff) Goltry, was born in Montgomery County, Iowa, on January 13, 1896, and passed away at Grand Island, Nebraska, on January 12, 1990, at the age of 93 years, 11 months, and 29 days.

She grew up and attended school in Iowa, graduating from Elliott, Iowa High School. She received her teacher training in Belvidere, Illinois, and then taught school in Iowa.

On February 20, 1917, she was united in marriage to Wilbur Kemling in Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 26, 1943.

After their marriage they lived on a farm near Elliott, Iowa, and in 1924, they moved to Grant, Nebraska, where they broke out a farm on virgin prairie. After the death of her husband, she taught school in the Grant area. In 1974 she moved to Aurora, and in 1978 she entered the Lake View Nursing Center in Grand Island.

Laura was a member of the United Methodist Church, and was a Sunday School Superintendent for many years, and belonged to the Womens Missionary Society, and also belonged to 4-H Clubs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 sisters, Clara Mullen, Grace Reed, and Maude Chickering; and one brother, Ray Goltry.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her 7 sons, Rev. Max of Hampshire, Illinois, Paul of Aurora, Dale of Grant, Rev. Dwight of Lincoln, Orville and Robert of Grand Island, and Glendon of Long Island, New York; 25 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
