Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Sunday, June 17, 1979 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held at Moweaqua Cemetery in Moweaqua, Illinois.

OBITUARY: Ralph J. Kernodle

Ralph J. Kernodle, the son of Richard and Elizabeth Russell Kernodle, was born at Blue Mound, Illinois on June 20, 1897. His death occurred at Aurora, Nebraska on June 16, 1979, following a lingering illness of several months. He was 81 years 11 months and 26 days of age.

He spent his childhood in the vicinity of his birth and received his education in the Public Schools near his parent’s home.

On June 20, 1918 he was united in marriage to Violet Tate. They resided most of their wedded life at Moweaqua, Illinois. Three daughters were born to them. His wife preceded him in death on April 6, 1958.

Mr. Kernodle spent several years in the Baker’s trade. In later years, he developed one of his hobbies, that of fishing, into a semi profession. At the time of his death, he still held the record for Fly casting. He was, also, a Consultant to the Shakespeare Company, to test out new products for them. He had entertained numerous crowds with his fishing demonstrations and fly casting. Another hobby was his music and had taken part in some of the musical programs in the United Methodist Church in Aurora.

Since the death of his wife, he had made his home in Illinois, Nebraska, California and one year in Florida.

He was a regular attendant at the United Methodist Church in Aurora as long as his health permitted. He was a member of the Lions Club in Aurora.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers.

His survivors include three daughters, Mrs. P.J. Halicki of Maroa, Illinois; Mrs. M.A. Alexander of Bakersfield, California and Mrs. R.E. Anderson of Aurora, Nebraska; one brother, Keith Kernodle of Macomb, Illinois; one sister, Mrs. Hallie Hayes of Urbana, Illinois; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren and other relatives and close friends.
