LaVerda Keyes

LaVerda Keyes, age 93, of Aurora, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001 at Hamilton Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday at Higby Mortuary Chapel in Aurora. Rev. Nora Leeds will officiate. Burial will be at the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: LAVERDA KEYES

LaVerda Georgia Keyes, was born August 16, 1907 near Aurora, Nebraska to Emil J. and Lida M. (Andrews) Newhouser, and died in Aurora, Nebraska on May 9, 2001, at the age of 93 years.

She graduated from Marquette High School in 1926. LaVerda was united in marriage to Ralph M. (Bob) Fowler on April 18, 1927 at Mankato, Kansas and they lived in the Marquette community until 1961 when they moved to Aurora. Bob passed away on August 18, 1964.

On May 26, 1965, LaVerda married George W. Keyes of York and lived there until February of 1996 when she moved to Hamilton Manor in Aurora. George died on November 1, 1979.

LaVerda was a member of East Avenue United Methodist Church of York, Peace Circle and The Mending Club.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents, three brothers, two sons Ronald and Robert Fowler and step-son Robert Keyes.

Left to mourn her passing is her daughter, Marlene (Larey) Crawford of Phillips, daughter-in-law, Mrs. Robert Fowler of Omaha, Mrs. Ronald Fowler of Lusk, Wyoming; seven step children, Ruth Elaine Wood of Northglenn, Colorado, Doris (Bill) Harris of Paris, Arkansas, Betty Foxworthy of Ogallala, Katherine (Floyd) Merchant of York, Marilyn (Orville) Poppe of Brule, James Keyes of Lincoln and Lowell (R'Lou) Keyes of Aurora; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; step grand-children; step great-grandchildren; step great-great grandchildren and other relatives and many friends.
