Memorial Services were held 11:00 A.M., Monday, April 3, 1989 at Higby Mortuary. Inurnment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Nellie Kirkman

Nellie Mae Kirkman, the 5th daughter of John and Elizabeth (Griffin) Hartnell, was born September 2, 1901, and passed away March 25, 1989, at her home in Sun City, Arizona, at the age of 87 years.

The family moved to Aurora, Nebraska, prior to 1915, where Nellie was educated. She was active in the Federated Church, singing in the choir with her sisters.

She attended Kearney State Teachers College and taught school at Aurora, Wayne, and Lincoln. While in Wayne she met and married Robert K. Kirkman, a pharmacist. Robert owned the drug store at Wayne for several years, before moving to Lincoln, where Nellie continued her interest in music by singing the church choir.

Nellie retired in Sun City, Arizona, where she celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary in 1978. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1980.

Nellie is survived by nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters, Lucy Warner, Anna Medaris, Maggie Heuermann, Grace Conner, and Myrtle Hartnell; and one brother Garl Hartnell.
