Evelyn Joseph Klute

Evelyn Joseph Klute, age 80, of Hampton, died Saturday, August 29, 2009, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, September 2nd at Zion Lutheran Church, northeast of Hampton. Rev. Loren Cooper will officiate. Interment will be in the Hampton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Memorials may be made in care of the church. OBITUARY: EVELYN JOSEPH KLUTE

Evelyn Ann Joseph Klute, the daughter of Einer and Bothilda (Sorensen) Elkjer, was born in Hampton, Nebraska on June 4, 1929 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on August 29, 2009, at the age of 80.

Evelyn was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Kronborg. She attended rural school and graduated from Hampton High School Class of 1947. Evelyn attended York College to become an elementary school teacher and private tutor.

On September 23, 1949, she was united in marriage to Reuben C. Joseph at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Kronborg. They had two sons, Jan and Jerl. They farmed north of Hampton, before moving into Hampton in 1982. Evelyn worked as a bookkeeper for Ericksen Sales and Service for 20 years and then in the Accounting Department of United Coop for 15 years. Reuben passed away on November 7, 1995.

On November 27, 1998, she was united in marriage to Don Klute.

Evelyn was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, where she was a past member of the Zion Ladies Aid and Sunday School teacher. She was a 4-H leader and American Legion Auxiliary member. Evelyn was a charter member of the Triple M Extension Club and served on the Extension Board. Evelyn was a volunteer at Hampton Elementary, the Cancer Society, the Bloodmobile and read at Colonial Corners and the Library Story Hour. She enjoyed the piano, poetry and prose.

She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Don Klute of Hampton; two sons, Jan (Ann) Joseph of Aurora and Jerl (Debbie) Joseph of Hampton; step-children, Barbara (Loren) Wroblewski of St. Paul and Steve (Kimm) Klute of Bradshaw; 5 grandchildren, Katie Ann, Jill Lyn, Amos, Eric and Tyler; 5 great-grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; sister, Verdella (Dean) Smith of Atlantic, Iowa and other family members and friends.
