Dale Knefelkamp

Dale Knefelkamp, age 63, of rural Phillips, died Friday, January 30, 2004, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lincoln after enduring several health problems during the latter years of his life.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 3rd at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Grand Island. Rev. Joel Schroeder will officiate. Visitation will be at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora on Monday from 3 P.M. to 8 P.M. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: DALE KNEFELKAMP

Dale Frederick Knefelkamp, the son of Frederick W. and Elsie V. (Steinbeck) Knefelkamp, was born in Estherville, Iowa on July 6, 1940 and died in Lincoln, Nebraska on January 30, 2004, at the age of 63.

He grew up in Grand Island and attended rural school District 18 & District 15, then graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1958.

Dale was a salesman and a farmhand. He remodeled homes and enjoyed carpentry. Dale spent 30 years as an Over-the-Road truck driver, earning a Safe- Driver award for 1.75 million miles with Sunrise Express of Grand Island. He especially liked the runs to Washington and Vancouver, B.C.

On March 29, 1980 Dale was married to Laura Schuster of Phillips. They owned and operated Country Express Trucking along with starting a lawn service, still operating as Country Pride. Dale “had an eye” for doing fine-grading and dirt leveling. He followed his nephew’s car racing and enjoyed his granddaughters, nieces, nephews and his ‘blue tractor.’

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Laura of Phillips; his parents of Grand Island; parents-in-law, Don & Lois Schuster of Phillips; daughter, Debra (David) Martin of Harvey, North Dakota; son, Brian (Lori) Knefelkamp of Aurora and daughter, Pamela (Darrell) Harders of Grand Island; 6 grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Larry (Linda) of Kansas City, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Greg (Carol) Schuster of Phillips; two sister-in-laws, Paula (Michael) Wolff of Troy, Ohio and Carol (Gene) Samuelson of Bertrand; 9 nieces & nephews and two great nephews.
