Karl Knudsen

Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 3, 1979 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg, Nebraska. Interment was held at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Karl O. Knudsen

Karl Oskar Knudsen was born January 19, 1894 in Nyborg Fyn, Denmark, the son of Mortin and Christina Petersen Knudsen. His death occurred at his home in Marquette, Nebraska on March 31, 1979 at the age of 85 years 3 months and 12 days. Although his passing was sudden, he had been in poor health for several months.

In February of 1915, he left his homeland and came to the United States, to the state of Washington, where he resided until July 4, 1916 when he came to Hamilton County, where he has since resided.

He served in the United States Army during World War One, and following his discharge, returned to Hamilton County.

On December 14, 1925 he was united in marriage to Emma Sorensen in Omaha. They farmed North of Hampton for several years, retiring in 1969 and moving to their present home in Marquette.

Karl was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in his native land and since coming to Hamilton County, has been a member of the Congregation of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters.

His survivors include his wife, Emma; three sisters, in Denmark, Johanna Knudsen; Emma Hansen and Erna Petersen, and several nieces and nephews, and other relatives and many close friends.
