Dorothy Jean Koch

Dorothy Jean Jensen Koch, age 83, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, formerly of Aurora, died Tuesday, December 26, 2006, at John Knox Village Care Center in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 30th at the United Methodist Church in Phillips. Rev. Marta Wheeler will officiate. Interment will be in the Phillips Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. on Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: DOROTHY JEAN JENSEN KOCH

Dorothy Jean Jensen Koch, the daughter of Lemual W. and Helen (Cornelius) Killion was born in Grand Island, Nebraska on August 30, 1923 and died in Lee’s Summit, Missouri on December 26, 2006, at the age of 83.

Dorothy grew up in Phillips and attended school in Phillips. She graduated from Phillips High School in 1941.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Robert D. Jensen on October 22, 1944, at her parent’s home in Phillips. Following their marriage, Dorothy worked as a Nurse Aid at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island while the children were young. In 1962 the family moved to Aurora, Colorado where Dorothy worked as church secretary at the church they attended. They then moved to Sidney and then returned to Grand Island. In June of 1983 they moved to Lincoln, and in February of 1989, they moved to Aurora. Robert passed away on March 28, 1993.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Carl H. Koch on May 4, 1996, at Lee’s Summit, Missouri. They have resided in Lee’s Summit since their marriage.

Dorothy was a longtime member of the Phillips United Methodist Church and also a member of the Eastern Star, where she had received her 50-year pin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her first husband, Robert D. Jensen.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, Carl H. Koch of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; 3 sons, Steven Jensen and his wife Kathy of La Habra, Califronia, Michael Jensen and his wife Terri of Grand Island, and Bradley Jensen and his wife Elizabeth of San Antonio, Texas; 2 daughters, Pamela Cade and her husband Dan of Lincoln, and Jacalyn Fredrick and her husband Douglas of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and three step grandchildren; brother, Jack Killion of California and nieces and nephews.
