Orville KohlsFuneral Services were held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 26, 1991 at the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Island, Nebraska. Interment was held in the Grand Island City Cemetery. OBITUARY: Orville Kohls Orville Dean Kohls, the son of Rein and Selma (Schultz) Kohls, was born in Lincoln County, Kansas, on July 6, 1936, and passed away at Phillips, Nebraska, on January 22, 1991, at the age of 54 years, 6 months, and 16 days. He graduated from Ellsworth, Kansas High School in 1954, and worked in Ellsworth until he entered the United States Army, serving from January 23, 1958 to January 20, 1961. After his discharge he returned to Ellsworth, and later moved to Hutchinson, Kansas. On December 21, 1963, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Anne Martin, at Newton, Kansas. They continued to live in Hutchinson for 8 years, where he was employed by the Rudy Patrick Seed Company. They then moved to Scott City, Kansas, where he worked for the Sharpe Brothers Seed Company for 2 years, then moved to Ames, Iowa, and worked for Crows Hybrid Seed for 2 years, and in 1976 they moved to Aurora, Nebraska, where he worked for the Prairie Valley Seed Company, which is now Northrup King Seed Company. In 1989, they moved to Grand Island. Orville was a member of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Aurora, and had transferred his membership to the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Island. He also belonged to the Lions Club in Hutchinson, Kansas, and Aurora, where he served as president, zone chairman, and also held several other offices. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth of Grand Island; 2 daughters, Jane of Aurora, Colorado, and LuAnn of Grand Island; his mother Selma of Ellsworth, Kansas; 2 brothers, Norwin of Cottonwood, Arizona, and Rolland. 6 sisters, Elda Pistora of McPherson, Kansas, Della Billings of Topeka, Kansas, Leoria Kohls of Wichita, Kansas, Deniece Roth of Alexandria, Virginia, Nina Borgstadter of Ellsworth, Kansas, and Lois Seitz of Broomfield, Colorado. |
