Helen M. Kost

Helen M. Kost, age 91, of Aurora, died Tuesday evening, November 23, 2004, at Memorial Community Care in Aurora.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, November 26, 2004 at the Presbyterian-U.C.C. Church in Aurora. Pastor Monty Nelson will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: HELEN M. KOST

Helen M. Kost, the daughter of Frank L. and Mabel Evangeline (Cavanaugh) Gleich, was born in Humboldt, South Dakota on December 11, 1912 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on November 23, 2004, at the age of 91.

She grew up in the Humboldt area and graduated from the Yankton High School in Yankton, South Dakota. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi as well as being a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club. She was employed by the J. C. Penney Company as a cashier and bookkeeper until 1953.

On December 20, 1953, she was united in marriage to Ted Kost. They farmed in the Utica and Scotland area in South Dakota until July 1969 when they moved to Aurora, Nebraska. Helen was employed by Parkers of Aurora until she retired in 1976.

She enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Women’s Bowling League. Helen was a member of several card clubs.

Helen was a member of the Presbyterian-U.C.C. Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Marjorie Gordon and Lucile Parker.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, a son and daughter-in-law Don and Londa Kost of Kearney, and a daughter and son-in-law Judy and Roger Salmon of Aurora; 3 grandsons: Nick and David Kost of Omaha and Chad Salmon of Aurora; 2 granddaughters: Kelsey (Gerad) Olsen and Jana Salmon, all of Aurora; two step-grandchildren: Derek and Kara Deyle of Kearney; one great granddaughter Rylee Olsen of Aurora, one brother, Robert (Marlene) Gleich of Veneta, Oregon, and numerous nieces and nephews as well as many friends.
