Richard (Dick) Kreutz

Richard ‘Dick’ Kreutz, age 74, of Phillips, died Saturday morning, December 21, 2002, at St. Francis Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 28, 2002 at Phillips United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Monday, December 23, 2002 at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora with the family receiving friends from 3 to 6 P.M. OBITUARY: RICHARD ‘DICK’ KREUTZ

Richard ‘Dick’ Kreutz, the son of Arnold and Anna (Zimmerman) Kreutz, was born on a farm near Harvard, Nebraska on August 11, 1928 and died in Grand Island, Nebraska on December 21, 2002, at the age of 74 years.

Dick grew up near Harvard and attended School District 68 through the 8th grade. He graduated from Harvard High School in 1946. While he was in high school, his family moved to a farm in Hamilton County.

Dick was united in marriage to Lois Ann Yost at the Harvard Methodist Church on December 4, 1949. Dick farmed with his father in Hamilton County. Along with farming, he sold Stor-Mor grain bins and buildings to farmers in the area.

In 1965 Dick and his brother, Max, purchased Harry Olson Implement and changed the name to Kreutz-Olson Implement. Dick remained active in farming and the implement business until his health failed in the last year.

Dick enjoyed playing golf and was an avid Husker football fan. He had been on the Phillips School Board and served as president. He was a member of the Phillips Keystone Masonic Lodge #62, had served as Worshipful Master, and was recently presented with his fifty year pin. He was also a member of the Phillips Chapter #204 of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Dick was a faithful member of the Phillips United Methodist Church and was instrumental in the building of the new church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Patricia Ann Kreutz, and a brother, Max.

Dick is survived by his wife Lois and his sister, Norma Kreutz both of Phillips; their niece, Judy Thompson and her husband Charles of North Platte; their grandniece, Melissa Gilbert and her husband Shawn and their son Cole of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; close friends Ned and Brenda Groelz and their children Ben, John, and Annie of Phillips; and Jerry Jacobs of Aurora.

He is also survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Helen Yost of San Antonio, Texas; Glenn and Darlene Yost of Hot Springs, Arkansas; DeLores Yost of Harvard; Gene and Barbara Yost of Cleveland, Tennessee; and 11 nieces and nephews and many grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
