Marie Kruse

Marie Anna Kruse, age 96, of Aurora, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2009, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 8th at the Higby-McQuiston Chapel in Aurora. Rev. Kurt Letcher will officiate. Interment will be in Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery near Polk. No Visitation. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: MARIE KRUSE

Marie Anna Kruse was born June 14, 1913 to William Adolph and Antje Stunkel near Hordville, Nebraska in Hamilton County. She attended parochial school near Polk and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended high school in Hordville. She was employed in various lines of work, one of which was a receptionist. She was also a homemaker.

She married John Kruse on July 22, 1972. They lived in the state of Washington for a short time before moving to Polk to be near her elderly mother until she passed away. In 1975 she and her husband, John, made their home in an apartment at the Good Samaritan Village in Hastings, Nebraska. In September of 2000 she became a resident of Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

She is survived by a son, Leon Stunkel and his wife Virginia of Hemet, California and Bothell, Washington; nephew, John Stunkel of Sarasota, Florida and by her step-daughters, Jonelle Kemmerling of Index, Washington and Twila Gagnon of Shelton, Washington. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Stunkel and Lewis Stunkel and a sister, Edna Stunkel. She is also survived by a dear cousin, Ann Heiden of Hampton.
