Betty LagerGraveside Services were held 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 5, 1996 at the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Betty Lager Betty Lou Lager, the daughter of Lynn and Margaret (Hutsell) Sims, was born at Aurora, Nebraska, on March 31, 1928, and died at Lincoln, Nebraska, on July 2, 1996, at the age of 68 years, 3 months, and 1 day. She grew up and attended school at Aurora, and later worked as an operator for the Hamilton County Telephone Company, and also worked as a telephone operator in California for a time. On November 20, 1948, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Lager, at Yuma, Arizona. He preceded her in death on July 5, 1989. Betty was very family oriented, and looked after her family all her life. In 1980, they moved to Lincoln, and for the past year she had been confined to hospitals and nursing homes, due to failing health. She was a member of the Capitol City Christian Church in Lincoln, and was a former very active member of the Christian Church. When her children were growing up, she was active in scouting. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one step-grandson Kelly Hartshorn. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her 2 sons, Ken and his wife Vikki of Grand Island, Kirk and his wife Jackie of Lincoln; 3 daughters, Susan Hartshorn and her husband Paul of Lincoln, Christine Shada and her fiance Randy Zeorian of Wabash, and Jolene Spale and her husband Bryan of Lincoln; 2 sisters, Louella Larson of Marquette, and Carol Jones of Central City; 16 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. |
