Leona Lagoni
Leona E. Lagoni, age 90, of rural Hampton died Sunday, February 26, 2006, at Memorial Community Care in Aurora. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 2nd at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Rev. Pam Ciulla will officiate. Interment will be in the St. John’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: LEONA E. LAGONI Leona E. Lagoni, the daughter of Erik and Anna (Andersen) Nissen, was born near Kronborg, Nebraska on August 28, 1915 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on February 26, 2006, at the age of 90. She grew up on the family farm in rural Hampton. Leona attended Country School District 81 through the sixth grade. She attended a finishing school in Tyler, Minnesota in 1936, where she developed a friendship with Elin Miller that lasted nearly 70 years. Leona was united in marriage to Harold O. Lagoni on March 24, 1938, at her parent’s home near Kronborg. They lived in rural Hampton for eleven years, before moving to the Lagoni farm. Leona was a devoted wife and mother, who was always working to keep the house clean. Harold passed away November 1994. Leona has resided at Memorial Community Care since November 11, 2004. Leona was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and Ladies Aide. She was a long-time member of the T & T Extension Club, Pause-A-While Extension Club, and the Marquette Lioness Club. Leona was a 4-H Leader. Leona and Harold went on many bus trips, where they made friends and then went on to reunite with the friends they made on other occasions. They also enjoyed going square dancing. Leona also enjoyed her flowers and watching birds. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; infant daughter, Linda Ann; infant granddaughter, Kristi Lea Kruse; grandson, Stacy Donald Kruse; son-in-law, Charles Gustafson and two brothers, Harlan and Delmar Nissen. Those left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Janice (Don) Kruse of Aurora; Linda (Leroy) Jones of Marquette and Rhonda (Tom) Schwoegler of Madison, Wisconsin; 7 grandchildren, Kevin Charles Gustafson, Kirk Alan Gustafson, Melanie Rene Gustafson Kellogg, Tricia Kay Kruse Grafton, Lance Allan Jones, Lonnie Michael Jones and Larissa Marie Jones; 10 great grandchildren and 4 step-great grandchildren. |
