George Landenberger

George Landenberger, age 76, of Aurora died Monday, January 10, 2005, at St. Francis Hospital in Grand Island.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 13th at Messiah Lutheran Church in Aurora. Pastors Sheryl & Chris Kester Beyer will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: GEORGE LANDENBERGER

George W. Landenberger, the son of George W. and Emma (Dey) Landenberger, was born on the farm near Gresham, Nebraska on April 15, 1928 and died in Grand Island, Nebraska on January 10, 2005, at the age of 76.

He grew up in Gresham and the McCool area. George attended school through the 11th grade. George left home at a young age to pursue his love of trucking.

George was united in marriage to JoAnn Christensen on June 6, 1954, at Columbus. They moved to Aurora in 1973, where George managed K-K Appliance, which was later acquired by Wheeler Transport. He retired in December of 1998.

George was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, where he had served on the Church Council. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren and visiting with friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Eileen Nuejahr; a brother, Orville Landenberger and a nephew, Linford Neujahr.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife JoAnn of Aurora; four children, Randy (Kami) Landenberger of York, Rick (Amanda) Landenberger of Omaha, Jody Golden and Barbara (Jim) Wonch all of Aurora; 9 grandchildren, Brandon Zimmermann, Sara Zimmermann, Tyler, Lee and Lane Landenberger, Quinn and Brynn Landenberger and Chad Wonch and Lynsey Golden; 7 great-grandsons, Logan, Carson and Ethan Zimmermann, Evan Golden, Austin, Tanner and Seth Wonch; sister-in-law, Mae Landenberger of York and many nieces and nephews.
