Virgil D. Lange

Virgil D. Lange, 85, formerly of Aurora died Sunday March 19, 2006, at St. John's Good Samaritan Center in Kearney.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 24th at the First Lutheran Church in Aurora. Rev. Wayne Oblender officiate. Interment will be at the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Hibgy-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Memorials are suggested to St. John's Good Samaritan Center of the family. OBITUARY: VIRGIL D. LANGE

Virgil Donald Lange, the son of Alfred and Emma (Riechert) Lange was born in Atlanta, Nebraska on April 4, 1920 and died in Kearney, Nebraska on March 19, 2006 at the age of 85.

Virgil graduated from Aurora High School and served in the U.S. Army during WWII, until he was medically discharged.

On July 18, 1948 he married Doris Obermeier in Aurora. Virgil farmed near Hampton and Aurora all of his life. Doris passed away on March 4, 1991.

Virgil was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Aurora. He loved spending time with his family and playing horseshoes, cards, and a telling a good joke. He was known for his jokester attitude and truly loved life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, an infant sister and two brothers.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Larry Lange and daughter, Sheryl (Jerry) Willis, all of Kearney; six grandchildren Machelle Gerbitz of Grant, Scott Lange, Skyler, Molly Cole and Hunter Willis all of Kearney; two great-grandchildren, David and Bradley Gerbitz of Grant and daughter-in-law, Sharon Lange of Sidney.
