Darold LarsenFuneral Services were held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 5, 1986 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Darold Larsen Darold Duane Larsen, the son of Harold and Ida (Danhauer) Larsen, was born at Marquette, Nebraska, on May 5, 1921, and passed away at Columbus, Nebraska, on March 2, 1986, at the age of 64 years, 9 months, and 27 days. He grew up and attended country school near Marquette and helped his father with farming. On September 15, 1943, he was united in marriage to Lucille Gibson, at Aurora. From 1942 to 1946 he served his country in the United States Army, serving overseas for 18 months. In 1947 he began farming and he farmed for 25 years. In 1969 he purchased the Marquette store and sold it in 1982. He worked at the Marquette Schools from December of 1980 until he retired in November of 1985. Darold was a member of the Marquette United Methodist Church, was a past president of the Marquette Lions Club, had served 17 years on the Marquette Volunteer Fire Department, and was a member of the Aurora V.F.W. Post #4993. He was preceded in death by his mother and one grandson. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Lucille; one son Terry of Marquette, and one daughter, Rhonda Reisinger of Marquette; 2 brothers, Leland of Columbus and Vaughn of Grand Island; 3 sisters, Phyllis Hartzell and Donnice Jensen, both of Hastings and Vivian Miller of Giltner; 3 grandchildren, his father, Harold “Shorty” Larsen of Aurora, and many other relatives and close friends. |
