Harold LarsenFuneral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 10, 1990 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Harold “Shorty” Larsen Harold “Shorty” Larsen, the son of Peter and Katrina (Rasmussen) Larsen, was born at Marquette, Nebraska, on May 21, 1896, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on January 7, 1990, at the age of 93 years, 7 months, and 16 days. He attended country school in the Kronborg area, and the 10th grade in Marquette, and the 11th grade in Aurora. On January 9, 1918, he was united in marriage to Ida Danhauer, at Aurora. She preceded him in death on June 12, 1959. “Shorty” spent most of his life in the Marquette area, where he farmed and owned and raised racehorses, before retiring. In 1984, he moved to Crossroads Court in Aurora, and later moved to Long Term Community Care at the Memorial Hospital in Aurora. He was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg. “Shorty” was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son Darold Larsen; brothers, Victor, Peter, and George; sisters, Ida Jensen, Meta Larson and Anna Goethe, and one in infancy, one great grandson, and a son-in-law, Clayton Hartzell. Those who remain to cherish his memory are 2 sons, Leland of Columbus and Vaughn of Grand Island; 3 daughters, Phyllis Hartzell and Donnice Jensen both of Hastings, and Vivian Miller of Giltner; 15 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and a daughter-in-law Lucille Larsen of Marquette. |
