Dr. Donald Larson

Dr. Donald Larson, age 77, of Lincoln, died Thursday, November 2, 2006, at The Monarch in Lincoln.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, November 6th at the First Evangelical Covenant Church in Lincoln. Revs. Matt Rudeen and Ralph Sturdy will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery at 2:00 P.M., with Rev. Karl Larson officiating. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. OBITUARY: DR. DONALD LARSON

Donald James Larson, the son of Oliver E. and Amy (Olson) Larson, was born in Wausa, Nebraska on June 26, 1929 and died in Lincoln, Nebraska on November 2, 2006, at the age of 77.

He grew up in Wausa, where he attended rural grade schools and graduated from Wausa High School. Donald attended Wayne State College, where he took two years of pre-med. He then returned to the family farm to farm for eight years, before returning to UNL to finish his pre-med.

On July 30, 1954, he was united in marriage to Lois Greenwall at Wausa. Donald graduated from UNMC in 1962. He served a year internship at Bryan Hospital in Lincoln and had a practice in Lincoln for an additional year before moving to Aurora. In Aurora, he had a family practice for 21 years. They moved back to Lincoln in 1985, where Donald was Director of the Lincoln Family Practice Program for 10 years. He retired in 1995. Donald went on to work part-time as a consultant for Nebraska Disability Department.

Donald was involved with Boy Scouts, where he served as a Webelos Leader and on several Scout Committees. He was a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, where he was on the Commission on Continuing Medical Education and also served as a Delegate. He served as President of the Nebraska Academy of Family Physicians from 1978-79 and was named Family Physician of the Year in 1983. Donald was a member of the Christian Medical Dental Association, the American Board of Family Practice and Nebraska Medical Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lois Larson of Lincoln; son, Dr. David and RoAnne Larson of Fairfield, Iowa; daughter, Becky and Tony Schroeder of Lexington; 8 grandchildren, Carissa, Ryan, Kyle, Bethany, Dorian Larson and John and Danielle (Schroeder) Dennis, Jordan , Kellen Schroeder; and a sister, Lorraine Marvin of Bloomfield.
