William Larson
William Larson, age 73, of Aurora, died Thursday, December 6, 2007, at Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, December 11th at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Rev. Richard Karohl will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. OBITUARY: WILLIAM LARSON William Jacob Larson, the son of Emil Wilbur and Bertha LaVinia (Eckert) Larson, was born in Hamilton County, Nebraska on January 31, 1934 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on December 6, 2007, at the age of 73. He grew up in Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School in 1951. William helped his father on the homestead, raising corn, milk cows and chickens. On June 14, 1959, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Grace Smalley at the Methodist Church in Grand Island. Over the next few years, William raised his own crops and animals in the several places that they lived. William went to work for New Holland as a welder in 1966 and retired at the age of 56. Still needing something to do, William drove a school bus for Aurora, along with raising a garden and taking care of several small animals. William was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Russell Larson; two brothers, Warren and Earl Larson; sister, Rossana Campbell; sister-in-law, Louella Larson and brother-in-law, Keith Campbell. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorothy Larson of Aurora; five children, Rita Houskie of Lincoln, William Jay (Jimmie Jo) Larson of Bradshaw, Valerie Sims of Grand Island, Edward (Rhonda) Larson of Arcadia and Justin (Doreen) Larson of Castle Rock, Colorado; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Bob (Betty) Larson and Steven (Linda) Larson all of Aurora; sister, Susan (Ernie) Williams of Grand Island; sister-in-law, Sherilyn Larson of Aurora and son-in-law, David Sims of Aurora. |
