Edie Lash
Edie Lash, age 89, of Aurora, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011, at Memorial Community Care. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, February 21st at the First Christian Church. Pastor Sam Fox and Rev. Ralph Sturdy will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. OBITUARY: EDIE LASH Edith Arlene Lash, the daughter of George and Amanda (Christiansen) Olson, was born north of Hampton, Nebraska on October 11, 1921 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on February 17, 2011, at the age of 89. She grew up in the Hampton and Aurora area. Edie attended school in Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School in 1938. She was a rural school teacher for five years and during that time she attended Kearney State Teachers College for a summer to renew her teaching certificate. Edie lived in California for a time during WWII to take care of the mother of a friend of her brothers. She returned to Aurora to work at Farmer’s State Bank. In 1947 she moved to Lincoln, where she worked at Western Electric and in the office at Elgin Watch Factory. While living in Lincoln Edie met Clarence Lash. They were married on March 25, 1950 in Lincoln. In 1952, they moved to Aurora. Edie worked at the Red & White Grocery Store and Aurora Bakery for 14 years. After living 19 years, two blocks west of the First Christian Church, they moved one mile north and ½ mile east of Aurora in 1971. Clarence passed away on April 22, 1994. Edie was an active member of the First Christian Church. She was a member of the Ladies Circle and had taught Junior High Sunday School and was the Junior High Sunday School Superintendent for several years. Edie was a Girl Scout Leader for many years and helped with Cub Scouts. Edie was involved in many of her children’s activities. Edie enjoyed family times her friends, cooking and playing the piano by ear, which was enjoyed by many. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Chet Olson and Earl Olson and a sister, Doris Petersen. Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Jeff (Dottie) Lash of Nixa, Missouri and Jim Lash of Brazil; two daughters, Barb (Wendell) Perry of Phillips and Sharon (Bob) Binderup of Hastings; 6 grandchildren, Kyle Lash, Ross (Rebecca) Binderup and Mike (Rhonda) Binderup all of Lincoln, Levi Lash and fiancé Jenna of Kearney and Shannon Lash and Aletha Willett & families of Michigan and a great-grandchild, Addison Binderup of Lincoln. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Dona Olson of Marshalltown, Iowa and Dot Dill of Gretna and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. |
