Virgil LauheadFuneral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, September 2, 1993 at the Aurora First Christian Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Virgil Lauhead Virgil Lewis Lauhead, the son of Joseph and Cina Rose (Hall) Lauhead, was born at Elwood, Nebraska, on October 11, 1912, and died at Lincoln, Nebraska, on August 30, 1993, at the age of 80 years, 10 months, and 19 days. He grew up and received his schooling at Elwood, and graduated from Elwood High School. On October 16, 1937, he was united in marriage to Eunice Heinen of Arapahoe, at Elwood. After their marriage he worked for the Farms Company, and in 1940, they moved to the Aurora area, and he was employed as a custodian and school bus driver by the Aurora Public Schools for 25 years, until his retirement. Virgil was a member of the Aurora First Christian Church, and cared for the church as custodian for many years. He was also a member of the Cornhusker Odd Fellow Lodge and the Rebekahs, and was involved with ARC for 15 years. He was preceded in death y his parents, 2 brothers, 4 sisters, and a half-sister. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife, Eunice of Aurora; one son Rev. Galen Lauhead of Grand Island, one daughter Norma Joyce Smith of Aurora; 6 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. |
