Blanche LewisFuneral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, June 2, 1983 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Mrs. Blanche Lewis Blanche Lewis, the daughter of George and Jessie Young Russell, was born at Marquette, Nebraska, on July 10, 1897. Her death occurred at Spokane, Washington, on May 29, 1983 having attained the age of 85 years, 10 months and 19 days. She spent her childhood in the vicinity of Marquette and received her education in the public schools there. On January 19, 1916, she was united in marriage to Roy Lewis at Marquette. They farmed near Marquette for several years, later moving into Marquette, where her husband operated a filling station. In 1946 they sold the station and moved to Central City, Nebraska, where they resided until 1958, when they moved to Richland, Washington to be near their son and later moved into Spokane, where she has since resided. Her husband preceded her in death on December 25, 1981. Mrs. Lewis was a member of the United Methodist Church in Marquette. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, John and Frank Russell and a sister Mrs. Ethel Rallens. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her son, Eugene and his wife Karen of Spokane, Washington; one brother Howard Russell of Marquette, Nebraska; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Bearnth of Mira Loma, CAlifornia and Mrs. Bertha Yemington of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; three grandchildren, Scott, Staci and Shane Lewis of Seattle, Washington; several nieces and nephews including Thomas and Arlynn Jefferson and Kari and Kristi of Oxnard, California and other relatives and many close friends. |
