Melvin Loge

Melvin Loge, age 91, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at Memorial Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, July 30th at the Monroe Evangelical Free Church north of Murphy. Pastor Marshall Erickson will officiate. Interment will be in the Monroe Evangelical Free Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 P.M. Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. OBITUARY: MELVIN LOGE

Melvin Lincoln Loge, the son of Swen and Lisa (Fuglested) Loge, was born at Cooperstown, North Dakota on February 12, 1920 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on July 26, 2011, at the age of 91 and a half.

He grew up on a farm in Cooperstown, North Dakota where he graduated from high school. Following his graduation he served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his discharge he returned home where he farmed for two years.

Mel was united in marriage to Pearl Palm on August 2, 1941 at Fargo, North Dakota.

Mel graduated from Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta. Mel then pastored churches in Alberta, Manitoba, Minnesota, North Dakota, Nebraska and Kansas. Following his retirement he served in interim pastoral work in 12 Evangelical Free Churches.

He enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening, but what he loved most was preaching.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Becky Loge and Marilynn Goertzen and one child in infancy and brothers, Maynard, Truman and Spencer Loge.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Pearl; sons, Stephen (Yolanda) Loge of Steedman, Missouri and Daniel Loge of Omaha; daughters, Ruth Ann (Charles) Clow of Edina, Minnesota, Donna (Glenn) Dagman of San Jose, California and Barbara (Paul) Forsman of Aurora; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and brother Kenneth Loge of Washington.
