John LordFuneral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, July 14, 1998 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: John “Bus” Lord John Hamilton Lord, the son of John and Lucy (Willis) Lord, was born at Aurora, Nebraska, on August 1, 1919, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on July 9, 1998, at the age of 78 years, 11 months, and 8 days. He grew up and received his education in the Aurora Schools. At age fifteen he took over his father’s shoe repair business, and cared for his parents. His father went blind and he bought him to work each day by wheel chair. On October 17, 1943, he was united in marriage to Doris Moore at Aurora. She preceded him in death on December 30, 1995. He and his wife operated Lord’s Shoe Service for 53 years, repairing many shoes form all over the United States that were sent to them. He was stricken with polio on December 11, 1949, and spent many days in the hospital and then received therapy at home, and eventually regained use of his left side and returned to work. “Bus” was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, belonged to the Chamber of Commerce, was a life member of the Plainsman Museum. He was a past Master of the Aurora Masonic Lodge #68 A.F. & A.M. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Doris, a half-brother Clint Carl and a half-sister Faye Dahms. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his three sons, Roger of Ladsen, South Carolina, Michael of Millbrae, California, and Gary of Mesa, Arizona; and 5 grandchildren. |
