Bette Luff

Bette Luff, age 77, of Aurora, died Monday, July 7, 2008, at Memorial Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 11th at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Rev. Chris Kester Beyer will officiate. Interment will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. on Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7. OBITUARY: BETTE LUFF

Bette Ilene Luff, the daughter of James T. and Harriet Fern (Manning) Hartford, was born in Central City, Nebraska on November 10, 1930 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on July 7, 2008, at the age of 77.

Bette grew up in Central City and graduated from Central City High School in 1949.

Bette was united in marriage to James Leroy Luff on August 10, 1949 at Santa Anna, California. They had four children. She worked at the Grand Island Ordinance Plant in 1968. Bette later worked at the Marquette Schools and Marquette Coop Elevator. She enjoyed working together with Jim on the farm.

Bette was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she was active in the women’s groups. She was also a volunteer at the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Bette enjoyed playing bridge. She also liked sewing and going dancing. She especially loved family get togethers, as well as she enjoyed preparing the food for these gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Gary and Barry Hartford.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband Jim of Aurora; two daughters, Coral Lea (Jeff) Jacobsen of Marquette and Bunny (Greg) Chaney of Mantorville, Minnesota; two sons, Thomas (Debra) Luff of Minden and Michael (Michelle) Luff of Kearney; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie Fromholt of Eugene, Oregon and Barbara Bernstein of Portland, Oregon; two brothers, James (Dottie) Hartford of Eugene, Oregon and Robert (Sandy) Hartford of Longmont, Colorado; sisters-in-law, Marjorie Hartford of Eugene, Oregon and Carol Potter of Eugene, Oregon and numerous nieces and nephews.
