James Luff
James Luff, age 81, formerly of Marquette, died Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, December 3rd at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kronborg. Rev. Brian Krause will officiate. Interment will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: JAMES LUFF James LeRoy Luff, the son of Hans Fred and Mary (Nelson) Luff, was born in Marquette, Nebraska on January 29, 1929 and died in Kearney, Nebraska on November 30, 2010, at the age of 81. He grew up on the family farm near Marquette, helping with chores and general farming. Jim attended school in Marquette, graduating from Marquette High School. Jim was united in marriage to Bette Hartford on August 10, 1949 at Santa Ana, California. They had four children. Jim farmed the land and raised cattle where he grew up never moving from his childhood home. In 2005, they moved to Aurora. Bette passed away on July 7, 2008. Jim moved to Kearney in 2009. Jim was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, where he was a member of the church council and other church committees for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother, Eugene. Those left to cherish his memory are four children, Thomas (Debra) Luff of Minden, Coral Lea (Jeff) Jacobsen of Marquette, Bunny (Greg) Chaney of Mantorville, Minnesota and Michael (Michelle) Luff of Kearney; 12 grandchildren, Brian, Bradley, Brent and Brenda Luff, Solomon, Jordan, Nicholas Jacobsen and Anna (Jacobsen) Frahm, Kevin Gleason, Jennifer (Gleason) Karsten and Andrew & Emily Penner and 15 great-grandchildren. |
