Clarence Luthy

Clarence Luthy, age 96, of Aurora, died Thursday, May 17, 2001, at Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday at United Methodist Church in Aurora. Dr. Joe Scahill will officiate. Interment will be in the Phillips Cemetery. OBITUARY: CLARENCE LUTHY

Clarence Luthy, the son of Gottlieb and Cora (Schrock) Luthy, was born at Giltner, Nebraska on May 11, 1905 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on May 17, 2001, at the age of 96 years.

Clarence was baptized in the Mennonite faith, he later transferred his membership to the Aurora United Brethren Church, which is now the Aurora United Methodist Church. Clarence attended Aurora High School and was active in Smith Hughe and 4-H, was a leader for 7 years. He enjoyed showing his purebred swine at County and State Fairs.

Clarence was united in marriage to Nellie Dee Peterson on January 23, 1932. They had two sons, Robert Eugene and Dallas DeWayne. They lived on farms in the Murphy Community until they bought their own farm southeast of Aurora in 1948. In 1972, they built a new home and moved into Aurora.

In 1982, he was honored and presented an award from the Hamilton County Pork Producers Association. Clarence served on the Hamilton County ASCS board for 3 years. He was a school board member for 3 different Country schools. Clarence was a member of the Lions Club. He was an active church member serving on many committees.

Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, son Robert (Bob) Luthy and a brother, Roy Luthy.

Clarence is survived by his wife Nellie of Aurora; son, Dallas and his wife Doretha of Phillips; a daughter-in-law Martha Luthy of Helena, Montana; 6 grandchildren, Roberta Hayden and her husband Phillip, Carolyn Pence and her husband Douglas all of Aurora, Robert J. Luthy and his wife Lori of Sparks, Linda Simmons and her husband Raymond of Aurora, Paul Luthy and his wife Stacey of Westminister, Colorado and Kimberly Trumble and her husband Gregg of Phillips; 3 step-grandchildren at Helena, Montana; several step- great-grandchildren in Montana; 15 great grandchildren.
