Funeral Services were held 1:30 P.M., Saturday, June 9, 1990 at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Amelia Lucille Madsen

Amelia Lucille Madsen, the daughter of Asahel and Belle (Livingston) Taylor, was born at Trenton, Nebraska, on May 30, 1911, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on June 7, 1990, at the age of 79 years and 7 days. She was the youngest daughter of the family.

She attended the Trenton Public Schools and graduated in 1928.

Following graduation she worked at Krotter & Wellet Hardware and Lumber Yard Store, as secretary and bookkeeper for several years. Following that she attended Doane College for one year.

On September 5, 1933, she was united in marriage to Milton Roosevelt Madsen at the home of her mother. He preceded her in death on February 26, 1984.

They resided in Trenton where her husband was Superintendent of the Trenton Municipal Light and Power Company. In 1944, they moved to Aurora where he worked for what was then the Consumers Public Power District, now the Nebraska Public Power District.

They transferred their membership from the Trenton Congregational Church to the Federated Church in Aurora. She served on the council of the church as secretary, and was also president of the Women’s Association for three terms.

Lucille was also an active member of the Aurora Chapter #93 of the Order of the Eastern Star, and was worthy matron for 3 terms. She was also on the executive board of the Order of Rainbow, when it was first organized in Aurora.

She and her husband were awarded the Chamber of Commerce Humanitarian award in 1978.

They celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on September 5, 1983.

After the death of her husband, she resided in an apartment, and later at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 5 sisters, and 5 brothers.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her son Kent of Aurora; one daughter Celia Ganow of Hastings; 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
