Virgil Madsen

Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 29, 1992 at the Hampton United Lutheran Church. Interment was held in the Hampton Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Virgil Madsen

Virgil E. Madsen, the son of Louis and Florence (Johnson) Madsen, was born at Hampton, Nebraska, on July 17, 1916, and died at his home in Hampton, Nebraska, on December 25, 1992, at the age of 76 years, 5 months, and 8 days.

He grew up in the Hampton area, and graduated from Hampton High School, and began farming with his father.

On January 25, 1951, he was united in marriage to Sophie Reeb Schaepler at Hampton. They lived and farmed at Grand Island from 1951 to 1955, when they moved to St.. Michael and continued to farm until 1959, when they returned to Hampton and he was employed at Yost Lumber, retiring in 1981. Sophie preceded him in death on March 4, 1988.

Virgil was a member of the Hampton United Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 brothers, Kermit and Gilbert, and 2 sisters, Bernice and Irene.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his step-daughter, Marjorie Travis and her husband Deryl, Sr., of Lincoln; 2 brothers, Dwayne of Hampton, and Carrol of Eugene, Oregon; one sister Una Mae Nielsen of Council Bluffs, Iowa; 6 step-grandchildren; 15 step- great grandchildren, and 2 step-great great grandchildren.
