Robert Main

Robert Main, age 71, of Aurora, died Saturday morning, December 8, 2001, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.

Memorial Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the Chapel of Higby Mortuary. Rev. Jim Garfield will officiate. Higby Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: ROBERT MAIN

Robert Eugene Main, the son of Leo V. and Florence Main, was born in Sayre, Pennsylvania on March 12, 1930 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on December 8, 2001, at the age of 71 years.

He was raised in Pennsylvania and graduated from High School there. Robert trained to be a State Trooper and served the State of Pennsylvania for several years. In 1957, Robert was trained to drive semi-trucks. He drove across the country from coast to coast. Robert did this until 1989, when health problems forced him to retire.

Robert was united in marriage to Alice Sands. There were ten children born to this union. Robert also raised Tom and John as his own.

Robert was united in marriage to Lexia May Sparkman on April 1, 1992 at Provo, Utah. One son, Shawn, was born to this marriage.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, and a son, Robert E. Main, Jr.

Robert is survived by his wife, Lexia of Aurora; Shawn of Aurora, Paula Kadel of Henderson, Iowa, Mark Main of Atlantic, Iowa, Bruce Main of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Jill Main of LouAnn, Arkansas, Linda Hayes of San Antonio, Texas, Marsha Byrd of Smac Over, Arkansas, Kailin Main of Phillips, Debbie Fulton of Oakland, Iowa, Cheryl Jordan of San Antonio, Texas, Robert L. Main of Port Allegany, Pennsylvania, John Huffman of Panama City, Florida, Tom Huffman of Grand Island, Sharon and Dianne ; 35 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
