Anton Malek

Funeral Services were held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 17, 1997 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Interment was held in the Hampton Cemetery.

OBITUARY: “Tony” Malek

Anton “Tony” J. Malek III, the son of Anton and Anna (Sykora) Malek II, was born December 6, 1903, in Dorchester, Nebraska, and died December 14, 1997, at Aurora, Nebraska.

His parents, from Svetnov, Czechoslovakia, came to Omaha in 1888, and later moved to Dorchester, where Malek’s Meat Market was established. Tony and his brother Joseph later operated Malek Brothers Meat Market and Locker plant in Hampton, Nebraska.

On October 5, 1933, he was united in marriage to Wilhma Lorensen at Omaha. She taught school in Hampton, Henderson, and Aurora. While living in Hampton, Tony was an active member of the town board.

In 1960, they moved to Aurora, where he opened the Mapleway Lanes Bowling Alley, which he operated for many years. He later built a bowling alley in Sutton.

His wife preceded him in death on August 23, 1995, and after her death he moved to Colorado, with his daughter. In September of this year he returned to the Memorial Community Care at the Memorial Hospital in Aurora.

“Tony” was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. He enjoyed baseball and playing the saxophone.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a sister Mary.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his son James of Boynton Beach, Florida; a daughter Jeanne Wall and her husband Marvin of Lafayette, Colorado; a brother Joseph of Omaha, and 2 grandchildren, Steve Wall of Chicago, Illinois and Linda Wall of Los Angeles, California.
