Wilhma MalekFuneral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 26, 1995 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Hampton Cemetery. OBITUARY: Wilhma Malek Wilhma Layne Malek, the daughter of Martin and Sigrid (Hast) Lorensen, was born May 21, 1911, in Hampton, Nebraska, and died August 23, 1995, in Grand Island, Nebraska, at the age of 84 years, 3 months, and 2 days. She grew up in Hampton, graduated from Hampton High School, and attended York College and the University of Nebraska. On October 5, 1933, she was united in marriage to Anton “Tony” Malek in Omaha. He operated a meat market in Hampton and bowling alleys in Aurora and Sutton. They resided in Hampton, Sutton, and Aurora all their lives. Wilhma taught elementary school for many years in Hampton, Henderson, and Aurora. After retiring from teaching she volunteered her time at the Plainsman Museum in Aurora. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Lyle Lorensen; 4 sisters, Alma Lorensen, Cecille Powers, Norma Mettlen, and Pearle Wilson. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband Anton “Tony” Malek of Aurora; one son Jim of Delray Beach, Florida; one daughter Jeanne Wall and her husband Marvin of Boulder, Colorado; 2 grandchildren, Steve Wall of Chicago, Illinois and Linda Wall of Los Angeles, California, and many former students and friends. |
