Gene Malsbury

Gene Malsbury, age 73, of Aurora, died at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, on Wednesday morning, May 5th.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday morning, May 8th, at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. The Rev. Dr. Joe Scahill and Rev. Merwyn Davidson will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 –5 and 7 – 9 P.M. Friday evening at Higby Mortuary in Aurora.

OBITUARY: Gene Malsbury

Gene Malsbury, the son of Charles and Helen (Harper) Malsbury, was born in Cadams, Nebraska on March 9, 1926 and died in Grand Island, Nebraska, on May 5, 1999, at the age of 73 years.

He grew up in Bostwick on a farm and graduated from Superior High School.

On May 22, 1950, he was united in marriage to Ruth Carter at Superior, Nebraska. He served in the Army from 1952-54. He attended telegraphy school and then went to work for Burlington Northern Railroad as an agent/operator for 33 years before retiring in 1985. They have been longtime Aurora residents.

Gene was a member of the United Methodist Church and Lions Club. In previous years he had been active in Little League Baseball, Junior Pro Football and Cub Scouts where he was a scoutmaster. He loved camping, woodworking, gardening, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Dorothy and Helen.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Malsbury of Aurora; one son Kevin and his wife Brenda of Aurora; one daughter Diana and her husband Raymond of Kearney; one brother, Albert (Lucille) of North Platte, NE and four sisters, Laura (Harry) Jensen of Superior, NE, Janet Hanson of Superior, Donna (Robert) Bird of Clinton Corners, NY and Nadine (Muril) Vincelette Grand Junction, CO and three grandsons, P.F.C. Nathan Jorgensen of Ft. Campbell, KY, Tyler Jorgensen of Kearney, NE and Caleb Malsbury of Aurora.
