Lydia Manguson

Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 11, 1992 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Lydia Manguson

Lydia Mathilda Magnuson, the daughter of Erick and Hulda (Erickson) Nilson, was born on the family farm west of Marquette, Nebraska, on December 24, 1895, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on March 8, 1992, at the age of 96 years, 2 months, and 14 days.

She attended public schools near Marquette and graduated from Marquette High School. She then attended Central City High School for one year and later attended a summer school session at Kearney State Teachers College. Lydia taught school for several years.

On June 10, 1918, she was united in marriage to Paul H. Magnuson, of Marquette, at Aurora. He preceded her in death on February 22, 1959. They farmed in the Marquette area for over 40 years.

After her husband’s death, Lydia moved to the Good Samaritan Village in Hastings, Nebraska, where she lived until she became a resident of the Hamilton Manor in Aurora in 1982.

She was a member of the Marquette United Methodist Church and was active in church work.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, Charlie, Arthur Edward, Victor, and Oskar; 3 sisters, Esther McMahan, Edith Hansen, and Hulda Nolan.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her brother, Arthur A. Nilson of Marquette, and 2 sisters, Hannah Hansen of Hampton and Artha Nilson of Lincoln, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
