Ialeen Mankin
Ialeen Mankin, age 86, of Aurora died Saturday morning, April 24, 2004, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, April 27th at the First Christian Church in Aurora. Rev. Sam Fox will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Aurora. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: IALEEN MANKIN Ialeen L. Mankin, the daughter of William and Ida (Frank) Luthy, was born in Giltner, Nebraska on July 12, 1917 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on April 24, 2004, at the age of 86. She grew up in Giltner and graduated from Giltner High School. Ialeen was united in marriage to Cloyde Clayton Mankin on November 22, 1936, at Harvard, Nebraska. They lived in Seattle, Washington, where he worked for Boeing Aircraft. They moved to Aurora, where they farmed until they retired. Following retirement, they lived several winters in Arizona. Cloyde passed away on October 3, 1995. Ialeen was a member of the Aurora First Christian Church, where she served 11 years as superintendent and taught in the Sunday Church School for a number of years. She was past president of the Christian Women's Fellowship, she had also served on the State Board of the Christian Churches of Nebraska. Ialeen was awarded a lifetime membership in PTA, and also served as president of the Aurora District 4-R PTA. She was past vice-chairman of the Democratic party of Hamilton County and she served as clerk of the county election board for 20 years. Ialeen was cited in "Who's Who In Nebraska" for service to the community through leadership in the Federated Women's Club, where she served four years as president of the Aurora club. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Max and three brothers, Donald, Frank and Clark Luthy. Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Wendell Mankin and his wife Sandy of Aurora, Beverly Rueter and her husband Robert of Wylie, Texas and Rosemary Molvar and her husband Mike of Lincoln; daughter-in-law, Kathy Mankin of Aurora; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. |
