Doris Mann

Doris Mann, age 81, of Aurora, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Monday, March 14th at the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Rev. Seth Leypoldt will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.

OBITUARY: DORIS MANN

Doris Irene (Kollekowski) Mann, the daughter of Paul J. and Mary E. (Johnson) Kollekowski, was born in Beatrice, Nebraska on October 12, 1923 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on March 10, 2005, at the age of 81.

She grew up in Beatrice and attended Beatrice Public Schools through high school.

On January 24, 1942, she was united in marriage to Dean C. Mann at Marysville, Kansas. While Dean served in the U.S. Army Doris lived in Wisconsin and Arkansas. Upon Dean's return from the service they started farming in Ellis, Nebraska. In 1957 they moved to Aurora and had a dairy farm until 1973, when they moved into town. Dean passed away on January 3, 2003.

Doris was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church and the American Legion Women's Auxiliary. She enjoyed her roses and painting her crafts. Doris was an avid gardener. Doris especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Donald and Harley; sisters-in-law, Lelia (Charlie) Wierman, Florence (Pearle) Nickeson, Esther (Roe) Hudson, Faye (Frank) Carpenter, Claire Howe and Vivian Bartlett and brothers-in-law, Orra (Charlene) Mann and Lester Mann.

Those left to cherish her memory are her three sons, Larry (Vernie) Mann of Vinemont, Alabama, Terry (Connie) Mann and Tim (Sandy) Mann of Aurora; two daughters, Karen (Ron) Perry of Aurora and Marcy (Kevin) Senff of York; 12 grandchildren, Jeff (Tammy), Jim (Christy), Bradley, Blaine, Megan and Tammy Mann, Kandi (Tim) Marshall, Christy (Brett) Raasch, Brittney and Jacob Senff; Alan (Michelle) and Rod Perry and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Beverly (Paul) Reedy of Wymore; sisters-in-law, Etta Kollekowski of Hardin, Montana, Diane Kollekowski, Blanche Bartlett, Lydia Mann all of Beatrice, Bethel (Elmer) Krebs of Lincoln, Letty Phelphs of Lincoln and Doris Menke of Aurora; two brothers-in-law, Francis Howe, of Beatrice and Earl Bartlett of Diller and Helen Mann of Fultondale, Alabama.
