Marvin Martin

Marvin Martin, age 57, of Hampton, died Sunday afternoon at the VA Medical Center in Grand Island, following a bout with cancer. Inurnment was held in the Alsley Cemetery in Ansley, Nebraska.

OBITUARY: Marvin Martin

Marvin Dale Martin, the son of James and Charlotte (Boyles) Martin, was born at Milford, Nebraska, on September 7, 1934, and died at Grand Island, Nebraska, on September 6, 1992, at the age of 57 years, 11 months, and 29 days, following a bout with cancer.

He grew up and attended school in the Broken Bow and Ansley area, and in the early 1950’s he moved to Grand Island, where he worked at several jobs. From May 12, 1954 to May 11, 1956, he served in the Korean War.

On December 1, 1958, he was united in marriage to Mary Anderson, at Grand Island.

After his marriage he worked in construction, and drove a truck for construction, and later drove an over the road truck until January of 1992. They had lived in Aurora for 8 years, and for the past 15 years they had lived in Hampton.

Marvin was a member of the Methodist Church in Grand Island.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Mary of Hampton; one son Patrick White of Omaha; three daughters, Mary Sue Beaty of Hastings, Sherry Wilson of Salina, Kansas, and Donna Lammer of Geneva; one sister Evelyn May Green of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and 11 grandchildren.
