Alice Matson

Alice Matson, age 94, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at Memorial Community Care.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 12th at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Aurora. Pastor Karl Larson will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 P.M. on Friday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Evangelical Covenant Church. OBITUARY: ALICE MATSON

Alice F. Matson, the daughter of Fred and Esther (Swedberg) Weedin, was born at Aurora, Nebraska on December 17, 1916 and died at Aurora, Nebraska on November 8, 2011, at the age of 94.

Alice grew up in Aurora and graduated from Aurora High School.

On September 27, 1933, she was united in marriage to Delmar Matson at Fullerton, Nebraska. They lived on a farm northwest of Aurora, before moving into Aurora, where they lived on First Street. Delmar passed away on November 25, 1972.

Alice was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church. Her church was very important to her and she was involved in many of the activities at the church. Alice liked to be around people. She always enjoyed getting together with her lady friends from the Murphy area.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Harlan Weedin; sister, Ruth Gage and niece, Paula Weedin Utley

Those left to cherish her memory are her niece Jennifer (Ken) Killion of Marquette; great-niece, Amy (Mike) O’Daniel of Bennington and their children, Jenna, Trey and Sydney and great-nephew, Matt Weedin of Lincoln.
