Ernst Matthes

Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, March 27, 1986 at the Assembly of God Church in Aurora. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Ernst Matthes

Ernst E.F. Matthes, the son of Ernst Adam and Agusta (Schultz) Matthes, was born at Hampton, Nebraska, on January 15, 1906, and passed away at Central City, Nebraska, on March 23, 1986, at the age of 80 years, 3 months, and 8 days.

Ernst was born and raised on the farm where he lived all his life. He attended country school near Hampton, and retired from farming in 1982.

On August 19, 1940, he was united in marriage to Irene Leona Ranard, at Keosauqua, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Norma, and baby boy in 1935. He was also preceded in death by his parents, 8 sisters, and one brother.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Irene, his daughter, and son-in-law, Carole and Bernard Smith of Spencer, Indiana; twin granddaughters, Carma and Kristin; 3 sisters, Mary Monson of Aurora, Alma Dadey of Marquette and Margaret Van Ostrand of Sycamore, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

He loved and served his Lord throughout his life. Just a few hours before death he was asking Jesus to come and take him home.
