Albert McCallGraveside Services were held 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 28, 1991 at the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Albert Joseph McCall Albert Joseph McCall, the son of Albert and Lela (Smith) McCall, was born at Lexington, Nebraska, on May 28, 1922, and passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Grand Island, Nebraska, on May 22, 1991, at the age of 68 years, 11 months, and 24 days. He moved to Hamilton County at an early age and attended South School at Aurora. After lying about his age, he enlisted in the Army-Airforce at the age of 17, on November 22, 1939. During World War II, he was taken prisoner, and was in the Batan Death March. During this march he was credited with saving the life of Capt. Wainwright, and was later personally thanked by the Captain’s son. He was discharged from the United States Airforce on October 7, 1959. After his discharge he was united in marriage to Vernell Erpp, and he returned to Aurora, where he was employed by the City Sanitation Department. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by one son Bryan McCall and his wife Judith of Liberty, Texas, and one grandson, and many other relatives. |
