Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Friday, April 6, 1990 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Interment was held in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Wisner, Nebraska.

OBITUARY: Margaret McCord

Margaret Cecelia McCord, the daughter of Owen and Elizabeth (Fleming) Kane, was born at Wisner, Nebraska, on May 11, 1896, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on April 4, 1990, at the age of 93 years, 10 months, and 23 days.

She was the oldest of 8 children in the Kane family. Margaret attended Wisner High School and graduated in 1914. She studied music and played the piano many years. She attended Mount St. Joseph’s College in Dubuque, Iowa.

On April 26, 1920, she married Ira McCord at Wisner. They lived in Palos Park, Illinois, following their marriage. Three sons, J. Owen, Collins, and Marshall, and one daughter Marilyn were born to this union.

In 1953, they moved back to Wisner and were engaged in farming and livestock feeding. Their son Marshall was killed in an automobile accident in 1948.

Ira and Margaret retired in 1957 and moved to Aurora. Ira passed away on September 20, 1969, their son Collins died in 1984.

Margaret remained in her home in Aurora until 1986, when she moved to the Community Care at the Memorial Hospital in Aurora, where she remained until her death.

Margaret was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora, and belonged to the Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, Marshall and Collins, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her son J. Owen McCord of Omaha; her daughter Marilyn (Mrs. Ken Wortman) of Aurora; one brother Owen Kane of Aurora, Illinois; 2 sisters, Lucille LaNoue of Scottsdale, Arizona and Camilla Hege of Belmont, California; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
