Eva McCullough

Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 26, 1995 at Higby Mortuary. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Eva McCullough

Eva Charlotte McCullough, the daughter of Birt and Ida Mae (Hively) Petet, was born in Blaine County, Nebraska, on August 30, 1923, and died at Central City, Nebraska, on April 23, 1995, at the age of 71 years, 7 months, and 23 days.

She grew up on a ranch near Brewster, Nebraska, and when her mother died they moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado, and at age 15, they moved to Custer County, Nebraska, where she graduated from Ansley High School.

On October 11, 1941, she was united in marriage to Bill McCullough at Taylor, Nebraska. After their marriage they lived at Ft. Riley, Kansas, and Ft. Hood, Texas, before moving to Mason City, Nebraska, in 1945. In 1951, they moved to Aurora. Bill preceded her in death on January 23, 1973.

While living in Aurora, Eva had worked as a waitress and at the Ben Franklin Store.

She was married to Harold Nelson for a short time.

In 1980, she moved to Broken Bow, and worked at Gibsons. In 1988, she retired and moved to Central City to be near her son John.

Eva was a very active member of the Central City Christian Church, was active in the Senior Citizen Center and Fitness Center. She also enjoyed craft work and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers, Grant, Lemuel, Richard and Bert Petet; sisters, Lily McCallum, Almeda Dye, Edna Sailor and Viola Dye Owen.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her 2 sons, Lee and his wife Bonnie of Kearney, John and his wife Marilyn of Central City; 2 daughters, Elva Ruth Miller and her husband Zack of Grand Island, Nancy Nealon and her husband Joe of Red Oak, Iowa; one brother Ervin Petet of Nampa, Idaho; her twin sister Elva McCullought of Broken Bow, and sisters, Martha Sickler of Lincoln, Emma Porath of Janesville, Iowa; 16 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
