Bob McDermott

Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Monday, November 21, 1994 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Giltner. Interment was held in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Bob McDermott

Robert Leo McDermott, the son of Leo and Mary (McCarthy) McDermott, was born October 19, 1937, at Lexington, Nebraska, and died at Grand Island, Nebraska, on November 17, 1994, at the age of 57 years, and 28 days.

In his youth, the family lived in many different places, and he graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Grand Island in 1956. He attended St. Joseph’s School of X-Ray Technology in Omaha, and began work as Chief X-Ray Technician at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings.

On June 8, 1963, he was united in holy matrimony to Linda Eggert at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grand Island. They moved to St. Louis, Missouri in 1964, where he was employed by GAF Corporation in sales. In 1971, they moved to Giltner where he raised hogs and worked as an X-Ray Technician at the Memorial Hospital in Aurora. In 1986, he started working in forklift sales at Martel Lift Systems in Grand Island.

Bob was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Giltner, belonged to the American Legion, and the Platt-Duetsche Society in Grand Island.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Linda of Giltner; a son Brian of Fletcher, Oklahoma; 2 daughters, Nancy Esch and her husband Rick of Spalding, and Brenda Lee and her husband Scot of Phoenix, Arizona; 3 brothers, Ronald of Omaha, Richard of Lincoln, and Roger of Kearney; 3 sisters, Marilyn Altensee of Orlando, Florida, LeAnn Clark of North Platte, and Connie West of Lincoln; his mother and step-father Mary and Emil Kuta of North Platte, and 2 grandchildren.
