Betty McNerney
Betty McNerney, age 69, of Giltner, died Saturday, April 9, 2005, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, April 12th at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Interment will be in the Giltner Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. on Monday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com. OBITUARY: BETTY McNERNEY Betty Joan McNerney, the daughter of Arthur and Gladys (Ranard) Gimpel, was born on a farm near Giltner, Nebraska on July 17, 1935 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on April 9, 2005, at the age of 69. She grew up on a farm between Aurora and Giltner and graduated from Giltner High School. Betty was united in marriage to Maurice McNerney on July 2, 1953. They lived on a farm near Giltner, where they raised their children. She worked along side her husband on the farm and over the years worked for Wagner Hardware and Grocery and Edna's Café. Betty was a member of the Nibble Nots and the Betty's Club for many years. Betty was a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Giltner, where she spent many years involved in the altar society activities. She was a current member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Grand Island. She loved babysitting for her grandchildren and following all of their activities. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband Maurice of Giltner; three children, Kathy (Dusty) Kohl of Hastings, Robert McNerney and special friend Rhonda Hawthorne of Grand Island and Liz (Tom) Cornwell of Aurora; 3 grandchildren, Laura and Karly McNerney and Casey Cornwell. She is also survived by three brothers, Bob, Garry and Larry Gimpel all of Aurora; two sisters, Ruth Ann Decker of Grand Island and Lucille Thomsen of Aurora and sister-in-law, Helen Manion of Grand Island. |
