Funeral Services were held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, January 19, 1995 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Interment was held at the Aurora Cemetery.

OBITUARY: Helen Mekara

Helen M. Mekara, the daugher of Orsamus and Belle (Myers) Cass, was born at Aurora, Nebraska, on December 31, 1909, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on January 16, 1995 at the age of 85 years and 15 days.

She grew up in Aurora, and attended Aurora Public Schools. She later gave music lessons, worked for Anawalt & White and the telephone office in Aurora. She then moved to Lincoln, where she was employed at the Telephone Company.

She married Charles Mekara, and they lived in several locations, as he was in the military. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1963. When they lived in Maple Heights, Ohio, Helen was employed at the Sagamore Hills Hospital. In 1984, she returned to Aurora, and in 1986, she entered the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

Helen was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora, and belonged to the church circle.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, Wilbur and Warren Cass, and one sister Gwen Penner.

She is survived by her sister, Emma Jayne Mersch of Aurora, and nieces and nephews.
