Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, June 29, 1988 at Grace United Methodist Church in Hastings, Nebraska. Interment was held in the Parkview Cemetery in Hastings.

OBITUARY: Hazel Menzie

Hazel Esther Menzie, the daughter of Thomas and Florence (Fair) Galaway, was born at McCool Junction, Nebraska, on March 27, 1894, and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska, on June 27, 1988, at the age of 94 years and 3 months.

Her childhood was spent in McCool Junction, where she graduated from the 11th grade, and she graduated from the 12th grade at Aurora.

On January 7, 1914, she was united in marriage to Wallace H. Menzie, at Live Oak, California. The first 2 years of their marriage was spent in a 9 by 12 foot home in Alberta, Canada, 40 miles from a town. She was a homemaker, and for 7 years she worked in Lincoln as a school lunch manager, and was an honorary member of the Lincoln P.T.A. They farmed in Colorado and Nebraska, however, they spent many years in Aurora, where they raised their family. Most of her social life was with the church and related groups. They lived at the Good Samaritan Village in Hastings for 28 years, and recently moved to the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.

Hazel was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Hastings, and belonged to the Aurora Order of Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Gerald Keith Menzie; 2 sisters and one brother.

Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband, Wallace of Aurora; one son Norman Menzie of Derby, Kansas; one daughter, Melva Ronne of Eaton, Colorado; 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; one niece and several cousins in the area.
